Toucan Films now has a sister, Toucan Words, the name for the publishing business.I guess its birth was around 1:11 a.m. on May 11, 2010. The first project is to publish "A Case of Intent", P.S. Barta, in an ePub format for iPad and other digital readers.
It might seem strange to launch a publishing business in these uncertain times. Many small and independent presses have closed their doors, along with small bookstores, as the publishing industry under goes technology and economic changes. Technologies such as print on demand, and the ebook readers, has rewritten the business model. Some distribution companies, like Baker & Taylor and Ingram have embraced these changes by opening new POD/Order units, which eliminates warehousing, which brings down costs.
Toucan Words will strive to the same standards as Toucan Films, producing "engaging stories, enlarging minds, enriching lives." Soon we will be accepting queries.
